Nous regrettons de vous annoncer le décès de Placide Viau le jeudi 6 juillet au Foyer Extendicare Kapuskasing à l'âge de 73 ans. Il fut employé comme bûcheron et briqueteur. Il aimait regarder les Canadiens de Montréal, jouer au cribbage, aller à la chasse, la pêche, faire des casse-tête et trouver des mots cachés. Dans les années précédentes, il avait joué au hockey pour les Jets de Val-Albert pendant vingt-cinq ans. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse Hélène Bisson-Viau, ses enfants, Richard de Kapuskasing, Nathalie Viau de Sundridge, une belle-fille, Nicole Blais (Jody) de Kapuskasing, sa bru, Tania Lallier, ses frères et sœurs, Thérèse Desbiens (Gabby), Annette Viau, Daniel (Bridget) de Smooth Rock Falls, Rolland (feue Jocelyne) de Rockland, Etienne Viau, Marie-Ange Larouche de Thunder Bay, Lina Pare (Léon) de Lac St-Jean, Angeline Pilon (Robert), Aline Villeneuve (Richard) d’Ottawa, Diane Gauthier de Longlac et Omer Viau de North Bay, ainsi que cinq petits-enfants, Steve, Eric, Destiny, Nickolas et Sophia. Il fut prédécédé par son fils Marc, ses parents, Eugène Viau et Victorine Doiron, ses frères et sœurs, Jean-Louis, Guillaume, Robert, Rose-Aimée Brouillette et Jeannine Viau. La célébration eucharistique aura lieu le lundi 10 juillet en l'église Immaculée-Conception à 10h30 avec le Père Gérald Chalifoux comme célébrant. Comme témoignage de sympathie, la famille sera reconnaissante des dons à la Fondation des maladies du cœur. ©


We regret to announce the death of Placide Viau on Thursday, July 6 at Extendicare Kapuskasing at the age of 73. He was employed as a woodcutter and bricklayer. He enjoyed watching the Montreal Canadians, playing cribbage, hunting, fishing, jigsaw puzzles and word search puzzles. In his earlier years, he had played hockey for the Val Albert Jets for twenty five years. He is survived by his wife Hélène Bisson-Viau, his children, Richard of Kapuskasing, Nathalie Viau of Sundridge, one step-daughter, Nicole Blais (Jody) of Kapuskasing, daughter-in-law, Tania Lallier, his siblings, Thérèse Desbiens (Gabby), Annette Viau, Daniel (Bridget) of Smooth Rock Falls, Rolland (late Jocelyne) of Rockland, Etienne Viau, Marie-Ange Larouche of Thunder Bay, Lina Pare (Léon)of Lac St-Jean, Angeline Pilon (Robert), Aline Villeneuve (Richard) of Ottawa, Diane Gauthier de Longlac, Omer Viau of North Bay, as well as five grandchildren, Steve, Eric, Destiny, Nickolas and Sophia. He was predeceased by a son, Marc, his parents, Eugène Viau and Victorine Doiron, his siblings, Jean-Louis, Guillaume, Robert, Rose-Aimée Brouillette and Jeannine Viau. The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 10th at the Immaculée-Conception church at 10:30 a.m. with Father Gérald Chalifoux officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
