Obituary for Dorothy Holland

Dorothy Holland
We regret to announce the death of Dorothy Holland on October 29, 2017 at North Centennial Manor at the age of 96 years. Dorothy was born in Trenton, Nova Scotia but moved to Timmins with her parents when she was a child. During the war, she lived for several years in Detroit, Michigan while her husband, George, served for the U.S. Army. After the war, they heard of job opportunities with Spruce Falls and decided to moved to Kapuskasing where they settled and raised their family. Dorothy worked for Northern Telephone as a telephone operator for many years. She was a member of the C.W.L. for 70 years, as well as a past member of the Women of the Moose. Dorothy loved playing the piano and was the pianist for the local Moose Lodge. She was a devoted housewife who did everything and anything for her family.

In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting. She will be greatly missed by her children: Marilyn Bergeron of Kapuskasing, Glen Holland (Jackie) of Kapuskasing, Judy Trudel of Kapuskasing, and Cheryl Holland (Doug McPhail) of Timmins; ten grandchildren: Kaureen, Jeff, John, Ricky, Derrick, Toby Anne, Francine, Nadine, Elliot, and Samuel; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; as well as two sisters: Shirley Browning of London and Viviane Mawhinney of Kapuskasing. She was predeceased by her husband, George; her parents: Arthur and Annie Hudson; and one brother: Charles Hudson of Nipigon.

There will be no visitation, nor service. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the North Centennial Manor would be greatly appreciated. ©
