Obituary for Daniel Bromilow

Daniel  Bromilow
Dan Bromilow died peacefully in hospital in Kapuskasing, Ontario on January 31, 2018 at the age of 84. Born in Cochrane, Ontario, he grew up on the family farm in nearby Fredrickhouse and moved to Kapuskasing in his late teens. He worked as an electrician for over 40 years at Spruce Falls Power and Paper Company. He was a longtime member of the Kapuskasing Baptist Church, over the years serving as deacon and Sunday school teacher, among other roles. He was also an active member of the Kapuskasing Horticultural Society and a member of the Rod and Gun Club. In his earlier years, he had been active with the Boy Scouts. Dan was a do-it-yourselfer and was known to be a perfectionist.

Dan is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marguerite Bromilow of Kapuskasing, daughters Brenda Babin (Paul) of Renfrew, Ontario and Catherine Bromilow (Doug Brooks) of Chester, New Jersey. He was also grandfather to Devin Babin (Allison), McNab Braeside and Sarah Crawford (Kyle) of Guelph, and great grandfather to Félix Babin and Blake Crawford. He was predeceased by his son, Donald Bromilow, in 2017. He is also survived by his sisters Helen Swanton (Victoria, B.C.) and Alice Roach (Glencoe, Ontario) and brothers John (Elsie, Renfrew) and George (Porcupine, Ontario), as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers James and William and his sister Mary Mallais.

Visitation will be at the Guenette Funeral Home on Monday, February 5, 2018 from 2 – 4 and 7 - 9. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 28th at 1:30 p.m at the Kapuskasing Baptist Church.
