Funeral Celebrant

Planning a memorial service can often feel overwhelming. Even when we feel prepared, the reality of losing a loved one can put a tremendous strain on many parts of our lives. We are there to accompany you and help design a service that will honour your loved one in a way that reflects their personality and, ultimately, help you begin your journey of grief in a meaningful way, whether it be a funeral service, a celebration of life, or a graveside service.

What Does the Celebrant Offer the Family?

We are proud to have a Certified Funeral Celebrant on staff who has been specifically trained to design a service that is completely personal, incorporating those unique stories, songs, and experiences that will truly define your loved one.

The Celebrant will meet with you in the comfort of your home; at our funeral home; by phone; or by video conference. Together, we will discuss the overall vision of your ceremony, or celebration of life. This family meeting is important, so the Celebrant can get to know your loved one, as well as your family’s unique needs.

Together, we will also select any elements such as readings, poems, prayers, and music that ensure that your loved one’s life will be honoured and are right for you and for your family. Your Celebrant has a wide variety of options as to the types of components you can include. However, you have full and final control over the ceremony. Whether you prefer to include religious aspects or not, your Celebrant will help put together a service that is truly unique to your loved one, and your family.

The Ceremony

With the information gathered during the family meeting, your Celebrant then spends time writing, researching, and weaving your stories into a meaningful, one-of-a-kind service that reflects your loved one’s personality, and any memorable accomplishments, in a significant manner.

As the officiant, the Celebrant ensures the various elements of the service are presented according to your wishes. We welcome and encourage participation from family and friends, and we are happy to coordinate the contributions of persons interested in participating. If no one wishes to speak, the Celebrant will conduct the entire ceremony.
