Obituary for Dolly Popadynetz

Dolly Popadynetz
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Dolly Popadynetz on Sunday, November 1st, 2015 in her 84th year. She was the beloved mother of Tony (Anne-Marie Plourde) of Mississauga and Kathy (Tom Rayner) of Toronto; proud and devoted grandmother of Jessica (Brendan Howe), Meaghan and Erin; step-grandmother to Andrea (Derek Aylward) and Nathan Rayner; and was "Great Grandma Pops" to Lucas, Owen, Lily and Violet. She was predeceased by her loving partner of 36 years, Ernie Jermain (2010), and recently by her sister Annie Moody (2015).

She was well known in the community for her past participation in local baseball and bowling leagues, for her sewing and weaving skills, and her work as a long standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Dolly was born in Dryden, Ont. but grew up in Kapuskasing, making it her lifelong home. She was a pillar of strength and support for her community and her family. Special thanks to her daughter-in-law Anne-Marie for overseeing her care with great love in her final years. Much appreciation and gratitude to the west wing staff of North Centennial Manor for making her comfortable, she always sang their praises. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the North Centennial Manor would be greatly appreciated. ©
