Obituary / Nécrologie

Peacefully we announce the passing of Don on Thursday, December 6, 2019. He is survived by his daughter Cindy; Irving (Carole), Jon, Dan (Bev), Ruben (Lila) Brian (Marlene), Arlene (Aldo); Debbie (Ray), Dean (Chantal) and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Will be greatly missed by Mary (Eric), Jane, Adam.
He was predeceased by his wife Hellen, sister Rodena, parents Fraser and Mabel, his in-laws Otter and Senja Jensen and brother in-law Olaf (Kap).

Don’s family left Nova Scotia to settle in Kirkland Lake; where he became a manager for Dominion Stores at age 17 and settled in Kapuskasing. Don worked alongside Hellen at MacAskill’s Shoe Shoppe; he worked for 28 years for SNAP-ON TOOLS. Don was a member and Past President of the Kapuskasing Kinsmen Club, an active member and past President of the Kapuskasing Curling Club; the Masons and volunteered at the Kapuskasing Food Bank. Don enjoyed curling, fishing, hunting, pontoon boating, and cottage life (Don and Hellen were some of the first owners of a cottage at Remi Lake in the 1950’s on Lefebvre’s Peninsula).

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 9 at the Guenette Funeral Home from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. As expressions of sympathy, donations to a local charity such as the Kapuskasing Food Bank, Animal Rescue of Kapuskasing, the Kapuskaing Curling Club or the Kapuskasing Santa Clause Fund would be greatly appreciated. Due to severe allergies, the family respectfully declines flower arrangements.

L’incinération a déjà eu lieu.
