Obituary for Donald Reid

Donald Reid
We regret to announce the passing of Don Reid on January 26, 2015 at the McCausland Hospital in Terrace Bay. Don was predeceased by his loving wife, Jackie; his parents Gordon and Edith; one sister, Elthea Lightbound; one nephew, Greg; one brother, Bruce; and one sister-in-law, Sylvia.
Don leaves his four children: Bryan, Laura Girardin wife of John, Sean, and Keith Farley; one grandson, who called him Paw, Dustin Girardin husband of Annie; his great-grandchildren: Paige and Hannah; his sister Dorsa Caldwell; as well as many relatives and friends.

Dad studied at home, while working at Spruce Falls in Kapuskasing, until he attained certification as a Professional Engineer, Mechanical Division. Dad was eventually transferred to Neenah Pulp in Terrace Bay. Our parents spent their time in a wonderful neighbourhood. The neighbours looked after home when they were out of town, watered their plants and shovelled their driveway. Our parents were loved by their neighbours.
In his spare time, Dad engaged in hunting and fishing with family and friends, often renting cabins. He loved to be on Lake Superior but would always turn back to shore if the skies looked ominous.

At Dad’s request he was cremated and a graveside memorial will be held in the spring for family and friends.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Terrace Bay Community Church or the McCausland Hospital would be greatly appreciated. ©
