Obituary for Geraldine McPhee (Lafleur)

Geraldine McPhee (Lafleur)
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the death of Geraldine McPhee at the age of 85 years, at her home with her husband of 63 years and her children by her side. She was an excellent cook and her Sunday dinners were enjoyed by many family and friends over the years. Her cinnamon buns were legendary! The cottage at Remi Lake was her sanctuary. After retiring from teaching, Fort Myers Beach became their winter home. She enjoyed playing bridge and quilting and was a lifetime member of the Catholic Women’s League. Her family was her greatest joy, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren could always bring a smile to her face. She leaves her husband Jack, her children, Lynn Ritchie, Dale McPhee, John McPhee, Jane Bélanger (Luc) of Kapuskasing and Joan McPhee of Burlington to mourn her passing. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Kevin Ritchie, Ryan Ritchie (Samantha), Garrett Ritchie (Erin), Amanda Bélanger, Sheldon Bélanger, Braden Bélanger, Neil Bélanger and Jordan Hillman, and her great-grandchildren, Mason Ritchie, Emily Ritchie, Abigail Ritchie, Alyssa Ritchie and Gillian Ritchie. She also leaves behind her sisters, Diane Lavigne (Maurice), Doris Jagosz (Gerry) and Hélène Melanson, two sisters-in-law, Betty-Ann Lafleur and Elva Hanlan, two brothers-in-law, George Ethier and Lloyd McPhee, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Bruce McPhee, seven siblings, Cliff Lafleur, Gérald Lafleur, Léo-Paul Lafleur, Georgina Mair, Lillian Ethier, Jeannette Ouellette and Anne Sharp. A funeral service will be held at St. Patrick’s Church on Tuesday, October 3 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Hervé Sauvé officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Kapuskasing Food Bank or St. Patrick’s Church would be greatly appreciated.
