C’est avec grande tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Gertrude (Desrochers) Lapierre à l’âge de 92 ans, le jeudi 5 août 2021. Elle manquera grandement à ses deux filles : Gisèle Courchaine (Ernest) et Jeannine Stark (feu Robert); sept petits-enfants : Carole Lanteigne, Mélanie Bauman (Benj), Kristina Stark (Clint Pattison), Alexandra, Joshua, Brigitte, et Natalie; sept arrière-petits-enfants : Lionel Lanteigne, Brandon Lanteigne, Elleanor Bauman, Anson Bauman, Téo Bauman, Jack Stark, et Achanté Lanteigne; ainsi que deux arrière-arrière-petits-enfants : Zane et Cienna Lanteigne. Elle sera aussi manquée par ses beaux-fils : Daniel (Stéphanie) d’Ottawa, et Marc Lapierre de Manitouwadge; deux belles-filles : Lorraine et Denise; deux belles-sœurs : Georgianna Desrochers et Cécile Chainey; ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces.
Elle fut précédée par ses parents, André et Virginie Chainey; ses époux, Lionel Desrochers et Julien Lapierre; trois frères : Armand (Evelyne), Raymond (Rita), et Odina Chainey; trois sœurs : Rita Cayouette (Adrien), Grace McLaughlin (Fred), et Ida Lanteigne (Lucien Lanteigne et Jean Marc Savard); un beau-fils: Robert Stark; et un petit-fils, Gilles Lanteigne.
Gertrude était une personne fière et bienveillante, douée d’une grande foi. Elle aimait ses enfants et sa famille élargie profondément – « jusqu’à la lune, aller-retour » comme elle disait. Elle faisait preuve d’éthique de travail exceptionnelle, et plusieurs gens se souviennent d’elle et son époux Lionel depuis les années passées comme propriétaire du casse-croûte « Chez Léo » au Lac Rémi. Gertrude était une tricoteuse hors-pair, et de nombreuses personnes furent bénies de recevoir de tels articles en cadeau, au fil des ans. Elle aimait également jouer aux cartes avec famille et amis; elle était membre du Club de l’âge d’or; ainsi que fière membre des Filles D’Isabelle, Cercle St-André No 786.
La famille exprime sa gratitude aux nombreuses membres des Infirmières de l’Ordre de Victoria, ainsi que les travailleurs et travailleuses de soutien personnel du Centre d’accès aux soins communautaires; les travailleurs et travailleuses de soutien personnel de l’Hôpital Sensenbrenner; de même que le Dr Sylvestre pour les soins continus prodigués à notre mère depuis le début de sa maladie.
Le service commémoratif aura lieu le lundi 6 septembre à 10h30, en l’église Immaculée-Conception, avec le Père Sébastien Groleau comme célébrant. La famille sera très reconnaissante de dons à la Société canadienne du cancer comme témoignage de sympathie.

Toute personne doit observer les conseils sur la santé et la sécurité des autorités compétentes, y compris la distanciation physique de deux mètres pour les gens qui ne font pas partie d’un même ménage ou de leur cercle social établi.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gertrude (Desrochers) Lapierre at the age of 92 years, on Thursday August 5, 2021. She will be greatly missed by her two daughters: Gisèle Courchaine (Ernest) and Jeannine Stark (late Robert); seven grandchildren: Carole Lanteigne, Mélanie Bauman (Benj), Kristina Stark (Clint Pattison), Alexandra, Joshua, Brigitte, and Natalie.; seven great-grandchildren: Lionel Lanteigne, Brandon Lanteigne, Elleanor Bauman, Anson Bauman, Téo Bauman, Jack Stark, and Achanté Lanteigne; as well as two great-great-grandchildren: Zane and Cienna Lanteigne. She will also be dearly missed by her stepsons: Daniel (Stéphanie) of Ottawa, and Marc Lapierre of Manitouwadge; two stepdaughters: Lorraine and Denise; two sisters-in-law: Georgianna Desrochers and Cécile Chainey; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, André and Virginie Chainey; her spouses, Lionel Desrochers and Julien Lapierre; three brothers: Armand (Evelyne), Raymond (Rita), and Odina Chainey; three sisters: Rita Cayouette (Adrien), Grace McLaughlin (Fred), and Ida Lanteigne (Lucien Lanteigne and Jean Marc Savard); one son-in-law, Robert Stark; and one grandson, Gilles Lanteigne.
Gertrude was a proud and caring person with a very strong faith. She loved her children and extended family “to the moon and back” as she would say. She had an exceptional work ethic, and many remember Gertrude and her husband Lionel from the years they owned Chez Léo’s Snack Bar at Remi Lake. Gertrude was an amazing knitter, and many were blessed with items she gifted over the years. She also loved to play cards with friends and family and was a member of the Golden Age Club. As well she was a proud member of the Daughters of Isabella, Cercle St. André, # 786.
The family expresses their gratitude to the numerous Victorian Order of Nurses and Personal Support Workers from Community Care Access; personal support workers from Sensenbrenner Hospital; as well as to Dr. Sylvestre for the ongoing care provided to our mother since the start of her illness.
The memorial service will be held Monday, September 6th at 10:30 a.m., at the Immaculée-Conception church, with Father Sébastien Groleau officiating. The family would greatly appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society as expressions of sympathy.

You may do so by using the online RSVP feature below, or by sending an email to staffgfh@outlook.com . If you are unable, you may call the funeral home during our regular business hours only, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The maximum number of people allowed at the Immaculée-Conception church is 140, and no gathering is permitted outside. Every person present must wear a suitable mask at all times. Visitors must also clean their hands with hand sanitizer.
Everyone must follow proper health and safety advice, including physical distancing of two metres for people who are not from the same household or their established social circle.
