Obituary for James Croteau

James Croteau
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Patrick Croteau. He passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 5, 2020, in Kapuskasing, at the age of 65. Jim was as unique as his hair was long. While some knew him as soft spoken, he definitely knew his way around a curse word and wasn't afraid to speak his mind. He had an undying appreciation for the town of Kap. and did everything he could to preserve its history. Whether he was teaching karate, volunteering at the Rotary Club or supporting the local music scene, Jim put his heart and soul into every project he undertook. His biggest joy was his family, near and far, and he loved his children and granddaughter unconditionally. As for his close friends, they were as good as family to him and made his life richer until the very end. We will miss him very much.

He is survived by his children, Angèl Groulx-Croteau (Matthew) of Ottawa and James Croteau of Toronto; his granddaughter, Hannah; his mother, Agatha of Grande Prairie as well as his siblings: Timothy Croteau (Pauline) of Guelph, Louise Croteau-Walker (Mitch) of Grande Prairie and Christine Croteau of Kelowna. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his father, Ernest.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, funeral services for James will be scheduled at a later date when family, friends and the community can gather to celebrate and honour him. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Kapuskasing Food Bank would be greatly appreciated. ©
