We regret to announce the death of Janina Jean Kowalski at the age of 92 years, on Friday, September 3, 2021, at Sensenbrenner Hospital. Janina greatly enjoyed sewing and worked for many years as a seamstress. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Janina is survived by two sons: Zig and Roman both of Kapuskasing; one sister, Paula Jablonski of Connecticut; six grandchildren: Ian (Christine Côté-Kowalski), April (Brian Ostime), Krista Kowalski-Poulin (Dave), Ashley Kowalski, Natasha Gerhart (Tristan), and Corey Kowalski; and six great-grandchildren: Kara, Roman, Alex, Brooke, Wyatt, and Sydney. She was predeceased by her husband, Roman; two sons: Jerzy and Edward; her parents, Joseph and Katrzyna Grygorcewicz; as well as one brother, Stefan Grygorcewicz; and one sister, Sophie Mucha.
Janina Kowalski will be resting at the Guenette Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 10 at 2:00 p.m., at St. Patrick's church, with Father Praveen Kumar officiating. Burial will follow at the Kapuskasing Cemetery. The family would greatly appreciate donations to the Sensenbrenner Hospital Foundation as expressions of sympathy. ©

All persons wishing to attend the funeral must register their attendance with the funeral home, in advance. You may do so by using the online RSVP feature below, or by sending an email to staffgfh@outlook.com . If you are unable, you may call the funeral home during our regular business hours only, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The maximum number of people allowed at the St-Patrick's church is 80, and no gathering is permitted outside. Every person present must wear a suitable mask at all times. Visitors must also clean their hands with hand sanitizer.
Everyone must follow proper health and safety advice, including physical distancing of two metres for people who are not from the same household or their established social circle.

Janina laisse dans le deuil deux fils : Zig et Roman, tous de Kapuskasing; une sœur, Paula Jablonski de Connecticut; six petits-enfants : Ian (Christine Côté-Kowalski), April (Brian Ostime), Krista Kowalski-Poulin (Dave), Ashley Kowalski, Natasha Gerhart (Tristan), et Corey Kowalski; et six arrière-petits-enfants : Kara, Roman, Alex, Brooke, Wyatt, et Sydney. Janina Kowalski reposera au Salon Funéraire Guenette jeudi de 14h à 16h et 19h à 21h. La Célébration Eucharistique aura lieu le vendredi 10 septembre, à 14h00, en l'église St. Patrick avec Père Praveen Kumar comme célébrant. L’inhumation suivra au Cimetière de Kapuskasing. La famille sera très reconnaissante de dons à la Fondation de l’Hôpital Sensenbrenner comme témoignage de sympathie. ©
