Obituary for Léo Garon

We regret to announce the death of Léo Garon on August 2, 2018 at Sensenbrenner Hospital at the age of 83 years. Il his spare time, Léo enjoyed working in his shed-workshop, whittling wood while listening to music, fishing, camping, as well as travelling and discovering. He was a great thinker and philosopher, who enjoyed watching the news. Léo had a great sense of humor: he was always telling jokes and loved to make his family laugh, even right up to his last days. His greatest joy however, was his family – he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Francine; his children: Michel spouse of Monique Fournier-Garon of Kapuskasing, Sylvie Handley spouse of Brian of North Bay and Julie Garon of Kapuskasing; six grandchildren: Laura, Derek, Mireille, Isabelle, Natalie and Sophie; one great-grandson: Léo; as well as two sisters: Cécile Major of Kapuskasing and Georgette Audet of North Bay. He was predeceased by a daughter, Carole; his parents, Oliva and Jean-Baptiste Garon; and one son-in-law, Paul Guertin.

Léo Garon will be resting at the Guenette Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 6th at 10:30 a.m. at Notre-Dame-des-Victoires church with Father Rémi Lessard officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Extendicare Kapuskasing Resident's Fund would be greatly appreciated. ©
