C’est avec grande tristesse, mais avec reconnaissance pour une longue vie bien remplie, que la famille de Léo Richer vous annonce son décès le lundi 14 octobre, 2019 à l’âge de 94 ans. Il sera immensément manqué par ses enfants Michelle Richer (Michel Aubé), Suzanne Tibar (Tom), Léon Richer (Lorraine Frenette) et Sylvie Richer (David Favell); ses neuf petits-enfants : Jean-Pierre, Julie, Christian Aubé; Derek et Emilie Tibar; Matthew et Amanda Richer; et Owen et Graham Favell; quatre arrière-petits-enfants : Rose, Sandrine, James et son homonyme Léo Richer; et sa sœur, Jeannette Piché. Il fut prédécédé par ses parents Ernest Richer et Marie Perrault; son épouse Eunice Laflamme (1974); sa compagne Jacqueline Noël (2011); et ses frères Lucien et Frank. Né le 30 septembre, 1925, Léo a travaillé pendant 37 ans chez Kimberly Clark. Il fut ancien Grand Chevalier des Chevaliers de Colomb, il s’est dévoué au sein du conseil municipal pour la ville de Kapuskasing, a servi sur le conseil d’administration de la Caisse Populaire et la Société d’aide à l’enfance. Il aimait jouer tous les sports, jouer au bridge avec ses amis, faire la chasse et la pêche au Camp 14 au lac Rufus. Son plus grand plaisir était d’être avec sa famille, et encourager ses Canadiens. La célébration eucharistique aura lieu le samedi 19 octobre à 10h30 en l’église Immaculée-Conception avec le Père Sébastien Groleau comme célébrant. L’inhumation suivra au cimetière de Kapuskasing. Comme témoignage de sympathie, la famille sera reconnaissante des dons à l’Hôpital Sensenbrenner ou la Fondation canadienne du rein.

With profound sadness, but grateful for a life well-lived, the family of Léo Richer wish to announce his passing, on Monday, October 14, 2019, at the age of 94 years. He will be immensely missed by his children Michelle Richer (Michel Aubé), Suzanne Tibar (Tom), Léon Richer (Lorraine Frenette) and Sylvie Richer (David Favell); his 9 grandchildren: Jean-Pierre, Julie, Christian Aubé; Derek & Emilie Tibar; Matthew & Amanda Richer; and Owen & Graham Favell; 4 great-grandchildren: Rose, Sandrine, James and his namesake Léo Richer), and his sister, Jeannette Piché. He was pre-deceased by his parents Ernest Richer and Marie Perrault, his wife, Eunice Laflamme (1974), his companion Jacqueline Noël (2011), and his brothers Lucien and Frank. Born on September 30, 1925, Léo had a 37-year career at Kimberly Clark. He was past grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus, was town councillor for many terms, served on the Board of Directors of La Caisse Populaire and the Children’s Aid Society. He enjoyed playing all sports, playing bridge with his friends, fishing and hunting at Camp 14 at Rufus Lake. His greatest joy was being with his family and cheering on his Habs. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, October 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculée-Conception church with Father Sébastien Groleau officiating, burial to follow at the Kapuskasing Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Sensenbrenner Hospital.
