Obituary for Léonard Filion

It is with hearts full of tears that we announce the departure of Léonard Filion. Our warrior fought many battles against illness in the course of his 91 years, and now rests at last, fatigue having taken his last breath.
A wise and rather silent man, he would often let his heart and his music communicate the words he did not speak. The sounds of his violin resonate in the memory of those who were fortunate enough to hear its music. He played his last note a week before leaving, accompanied by his loving wife at the piano and his great-grandson playing the spoons.
A family man, violinist, recycler of « scrap », amateur violin maker, lover of nature, Léonard wore his many hats well. This passionate man partook in many hobbies, right until his final moments.
He leaves to grieve his passing his wife of nearly 62 years, Thérèse (Gaudreault); his daughters Jocelyne and Angèle (Maurice Côté); his granddaughters, Elsa St-Onge (Dave Dillon) and Katia St-Onge; his great-grandchildren, Milo Dillon and Dali Dillon; his siblings: Raymonde Filion, Gilbert, Albert (Paulette), Gérard, Lucien, Hélène Chouinard (Donald) and Patrick (Denise); as well as many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Bernadette (Marquis); and his siblings Paul-Yvan, Dolorès Dagenais, Annette Dagenais, Raymond and Adrien.
The family wishes to celebrate his life and will greet you in the basement hall of the Nativité de Marie church in Moonbeam on February 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will take place on February 28 at 10:30 a.m. in the same church.
For those who wish to do so, your sympathy can be expressed by donations to the Smooth Rock Falls Hospital Foundation, in appreciation of the exemplary care he received in his maternal tongue. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at S.R.F. Hospital for their compassion and kindness.
