We regret to announce the death of Mary Szyjka on February 11, 2019 at North Centennial Manor at the age of 96 years. She was a hardworking woman, who in her spare time enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and picking raspberries. She had a green thumb and loved taking care of flowers, both inside and outside her home. She was also known for being an excellent cook. She was predeceased by her husband, Stefan; an infant son, Stefan; one sister, Helen Borkowski (Michael); and three brothers during the war. She is survived by her son, Wesley (Lydia) of Kapuskasing; two grandchildren, Danny (Julie) and Allan (Andrea); as well as three great-grandchildren: Jacob, Tyler and Ashley. She also leaves to mourn one sister, Veronica and many nieces and nephews.

Mary Szyjka will be resting at the Guenette Funeral Home on Friday, February 15th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel with Father Hervé Sauvé officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Sensenbrenner Hospital CT Scan Fund would be greatly appreciated. Nous regrettons de vous annoncer le décès de Mary Szyjka le lundi 11 février 2019 au Manoir North Centennial à l'âge de 96 ans. Elle était une femme travaillante qui, comme passe-temps, aimait tricoter, crocheter, et cueillir des framboises. Elle avait un pouce vert et aimait prendre soin de ses fleurs, soit à l’intérieur ou l’extérieur de la maison. Elle était aussi reconnue pour être une cuisinière exceptionnelle. Elle fut prédécédée par son époux, Stefan; un fils, Stefan; une soeur, Helen Borkowski (Michael); et trois frères pendant la guerre. Elle laisse dans le deuil un fils, Wesley (Lydia) de Kapuskasing; deux petits-fils, Danny (Julie) et Allan (Andrea); ainsi que trois arrière-petits-enfants : Jacob, Tyler et Ashley. Elle laisse aussi pour pleurer sa perte une sœur, Veronica et plusieurs neveux et nièces.

Mary Szyjka reposera au Salon Funéraire Guenette le vendredi 15 février de 14h à 16h et 18h30 à 19h30. La Célébration Eucharistique suivra à 19h30 dans la chapelle du salon funéraire avec Père Hervé Sauvé comme célébrant. Comme témoignage de sympathie, la famille sera reconnaissante des dons au Fonds de tomodensitomètre de l’Hôpital Sensenbrenner. La famille désire remercier tout le personnel du Manoir pour les excellents soins prodigués au cours des années. ©
