Obituary for Muriel Stanbury (Hansen)

Muriel Stanbury (Hansen)
Muriel Stanbury passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital with family by her side, on Tuesday, October 15, 2019.
Muriel Stanbury of Stratford and formerly of Port Elgin and Kapuskasing in her 91st year. Loving wife and best friend of the late Fred Stanbury (2011). Proud mother of Christine and her partner Mike Erison of Mississauga, Tom and his wife Shirley of Kapuskasing, Tim and his wife Marilyn of Kapuskasing and Southampton, and Cathy and her husband Alex McCulloch of Stratford. Muriel will be sadly missed and remembered by her sister Clarice Jones of Sault Ste. Marie, her grandchildren Catherine, Christopher, Tammy (Don), Angela (Louis), Amanda (Al), Michael (Lina), Laura, Erin and Karl, and by her great grandchildren Abby, Mason, Hayden, Adele, Thomas, Gabby, and Myles. Predeceased by her parents Christian and Annie Hansen, her sisters Evy and Yvonne, and her brother Oscar.
Muriel was a long-time office employee of Ontario Hydro in Kapuskasing and later in Stratford. Muriel was kept busy raising her four children in the early years. She developed a talent for knitting, crocheting, and sewing in her free time and was a long time officer in the Eastern Star. With Fred’s help, Muriel lovingly restored a century old home in Stratford where she showed her talent for decorating. Muriel also enjoyed gardening and tole painting. Boat trips on Lake Huron, fishing trips, and family gatherings while visiting Rufus Lake were always enjoyed by Muriel.
A huge thank you to the caring & dedicated staff at McCarthy Place, Cedarcroft Retirement Home, and Stratford General Hospital. Your special touches will never be forgotten. Thank you also to Dr. Danielle Anstett for her care in Muriel’s declining years and to the Alzheimer Society of Perth County.
Due to circumstances related to COVIDE-19, a private a graveside service will be held at the Kapuskasing Cemetery, where she will be interred with her husband. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Perth County, Stratford General Hospital or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
