Obituary for / Nécrologie pour Nata Mateev
Our loving sister, aunt and best friend, Nata Mateev, passed away peacefully at Sensenbrenner Hospital in Kapuskasing, Ontario, on February 3, 2024.
Nata was born and raised in Kapuskasing, the second youngest of four children. In her early years she met her husband, Ian, and together they moved from Orangeville, Ontario, before making a beautiful life in Westbank, British Columbia. She was a jack of all trades and wasn't afraid to try new things. This was evident in her career choices: hairdresser, chef, dental assistant, personal fitness trainer, and environmental consultant. She loved sharing the things she learned with everyone at home.
Nata loved being active, the outdoors, identifying plants, eating good food, and her cat Monks. Her circle of friends felt more like family to her and the one thing she loved more than anything was to be surrounded by her friends and family. She will always be loved and remain forever in our hearts.
Nata leaves in mourning her siblings: Danny Mateev (Melody), June Porter (Howey), and Simeon Mateev (Sylvie). Nata was also a loving aunt to her seven nieces and three nephews: Tyler and Matthew Mateev, Jasmine Brausen, Dana, Michelle and Sarah Porter, and Megan, Whitney, Holly, and Jakob Mateev. Nata will also be missed by her uncle, Jordan Mateev; as well as her cousins: Lynn Mateev, Scott (Cecile), Jocelyn (Justin Peterson), Pamela Mateev (Cody), Eric Mateev(Paris), Robert Mateev, Jeff Mateev, Kirk Mateev (JoAnne Lodin), Faith and Amy Mateev, Cindy Sasse, Laurie Smith, Bobby and Steven Pratt, Kelly Booth and Paul Onge.
Nata was predeceased by her parents, Lois and Vasil Mateev; and her husband, Ian Anderson.
A Celebration of Nata’s life will be held at a later date.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Mental Health Association would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
Notre sœur aimable, tante et meilleure amie, Nata Mateev, est décédée paisiblement à l’Hôpital Sensenbrenner, Kapuskasing, Ontario, le 3 février 2024.
Née à Kapuskasing où elle a grandi, Nata était la deuxième plus jeune de quatre enfants. Dans son jeune âge, elle a rencontré son époux, Ian. Ensemble, ils ont déménagé d’Orangeville, Ontario, avant de se faire une belle vie à Westbank, en Colombie Britannique. Elle était une femme à tout faire qui n’hésitait pas à tenter de nouvelles choses. Cela était évident dans ses choix de carrières : coiffeuse, chef cuisinière, assistante dentaire, entraîneuse personnelle, et consultante en environnement. Elle aimait partager ce qu’elle apprenait avec toutes les gens autour d’elle.
Nata jouissait d’être active; le plein air; l’identification de plantes; la bonne bouffe; et son chat, Monks. Son cercle d’amis lui semblait davantage une famille à ses yeux. Ce qu’elle aimait plus que toute autre chose, c’était d’être entourée de sa famille et ses amis. Nous l’aimerons toujours et elle demeurera en nos cœurs éternellement.

Nata était également la tante aimable de sept nièces et trois neveux : Tyler et Matthew Mateev; Jasmine Brausen, Dana, Michelle et Sarah Porter; ainsi que Megan, Whitney, Holly, et Jakob Mateev. Nata manquera également à son oncle, Jordan Mateev; ainsi que ses cousins et cousines : Lynn Mateev,Scott (Cecile), Jocelyn (Justin Peterson), Pamela Mateev (Cody), Eric Mateev(Paris), Robert Mateev, Jeff Mateev, Kirk Mateev (JoAnne Lodin), Faith et Amy Mateev, Cindy Sasse, Laurie Smith, Bobby et Steven Pratt, Kelly Booth et Paul Onge.
