It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of René Menard at the age of 97 years, on September 26, 2021, at North Centennial Manor. René was a caring husband, a devoted and hard-working father, a loving grandfather and great-grandfather, brother and beloved friend, appreciated and loved by all.
René is survived by his brother, George, of Niagara Falls. He also leaves behind his six children: Claire of Sault Ste. Marie, Suzanne (Dave Miko) of London, Carole (Dougald MacRae) of Orillia, Raymond (Sonia Leclerc) of Montreal, Micheline (Yves Daoust) of Kapuskasing and Michelle (Jim McBride) of Kingston; as well as five grandchildren: Harley, Shane, Evan, Patricia and Simon; and eight great-grandchildren: Paul, Paige, Sarah, Olivia, Sophie, Samuel, Wyatt and Braelee. René was predeceased by the love of his life, his wonderful wife, Blanche Menard; and his siblings: his sister Annie and brothers Nelson, Eugene, Roland and Léo. René also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, family members and many friends.
René was a Second World War veteran; a member of the Knights of Columbus; as well as the Royal Canadian Legion; and a very active and long-time parishioner of St. Patrick's Church. He will be remembered as a “Jack of all Trades”, always there to help. René will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who had the chance to know him.
René Menard will be resting at the Guenette Funeral Home on Friday, October 15, beginning at 12:30 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's church with Father Praveen Kumar officiating. Interment of the ashes will follow at the Kapuskasing Cemetery.
Donations to North Centennial Manor would be greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

All persons wishing to attend the funeral must register their attendance with the funeral home, in advance. You may do so by using the online RSVP feature below, or by sending an email to staffgfh@outlook.com . If you are unable, you may call the funeral home during our regular business hours only, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The maximum number of people allowed at the St-Patrick's church is 80, and no gathering is permitted outside. Every person present must wear a suitable mask at all times. Visitors must also clean their hands with hand sanitizer.
Everyone must follow proper health and safety advice, including physical distancing of two metres for people who are not from the same household or their established social circle.

René était un époux attentionné, un père dévoué et travaillant, un grand-père et arrière-grand-père aimant, un frère et un ami précieux, aimé et apprécié de tous.
René laisse dans le deuil son frère George de Niagara Falls. Il laisse également dans le deuil ses six enfants : Claire de Sault Ste. Marie, Suzanne (Dave Miko) de London, Carole (Dougald MacRae) d’Orillia, Raymond (Sonia Leclerc) de Montréal, Micheline (Yves Daoust) de Kapuskasing et Michelle (Jim McBride) de Kingston; ainsi que cinq petits-enfants : Harley, Shane, Evan, Patricia et Simon; et huit arrière-petits-enfants: Paul, Paige, Sarah, Olivia, Sophie, Samuel, Wyatt et Braelee. René fut prédécédé par l’amour de sa vie, sa charmante épouse, Blanche Menard; sa sœur, Annie, et ses frères Nelson, Eugene, Roland et Léo. Il laisse dans le deuil également plusieurs neveux, nièces, parents et amis.
René était un vétéran de la Seconde Guerre mondiale; membre des Chevaliers de Colomb et de la Légion royale canadienne; ainsi qu’un paroissien de longue date, dévoué et très engagé, del’église St-Patrick. On se souviendra de lui comme un homme à tout faire, toujours prêt à aider. René manquera profondément à sa famille et ses amis, ainsi qu’à toutes les gens qui ont eu l’occasion de le côtoyer.
René Menard reposera au Salon Funéraire Guenette le vendredi 15 octobre à compter de 12h30. Le service funéraire suivra à 14h en l'église St-Patrick avec Père Praveen Kumar comme célébrant. L’inhumation des cendres suivra au cimetière de Kapuskasing.
La famille sera très reconnaissante de dons au Manoir North Centennial comme témoignage de sympathie.
