Obituary for Robert "Bob" Meunier

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Meunier on February 12, 2019 at the Sensenbrenner Hospital at the age of 76 years.

He was born in Markstay, Ontario to Paul & Jeanne Meunier. Upon leaving the Sudbury area, he came to Kapuskasing in his early 20’s and eventually opened Meat Mart & Delicatessen. The store was his pride and joy and he always enjoyed interacting with his customers.

Once he decided to close the Deli, he was approached by Northern College to teach and mentor those who wished to become a butcher. He worked for several years at the college, as well as for the Hudson Bay Co. where he loved travelling up the coast, to do what he did best. He always appreciated the small communities, getting to know individuals and chatting with the locals.

He had a wonderful knack for fixing just about anything that was broken. He lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as riding his bicycle, chatting with friends and family, cooking and just dilly dallying out in his yard.

He is survived by his daughters: Michelle of North Bay, and Natalie of Timmins; as well as his grandson, Broden of North Bay. Bob is also survived by his sister, Rita Beer (Frank) of Espanola and two nieces.

The family would like to express thanks to the wonderful Doctors and nurses who assisted with dad’s comfort and care during his stay.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. As expression of sympathy, donations to the Sensenbrenner Hospital CT Scan Fund would be greatly appreciated.
