With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ron Gillissie on Friday, February 8th, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loved ones. Born December 10, 1954 in Ottawa, Ontario.
Ron was a heavy equipment operator for the town of Kapuskasing for numerous years, retiring in 2016. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and travelling as well as his yearly horseshoe tournaments with his family.

Survived by his wife Diann, his children, Jason (Virginia) of Ottawa and Tania Friesen (Corey) of Winnipeg, his granddaughters Courtney Friesen and Jenevieve Friesen of Winnipeg, his mother Gladys Gillissie of Kapuskasing, his siblings, Doug Gillissie, Brian Gillissie (Hélène), Kevin Gillissie (Diane) of Kapuskasing, David Gillissie (Denise) Calgary and Valerie Gillissie-Silas (Marc) of Dalhousie, his brother-in-law Charles Robineau (Karen) of Kapuskasing and sister-in-law, Lynne Tancredi (John) of Pembroke as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father Edward Gillissie, his in-laws, Thomas and Lea Robineau. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Sensenbrenner Hospital CT Scan Fund would be greatly appreciated.
