My deepest sympathies to the Robert family. I am deeply saddened by the passing of such a great human being that touched so many lives. My grandfathers passed away when I was young and J.C took the “grandfather figure” role while I was growing up across the street from his home in Kap. From a young age, J.C. took me under his wings and brought me fishing and hunting, made toboggan hills in the back yard for my brother and I and was always there for us. As I got older, he was there to repair my bicycle, snowmobile, boat motor…the list goes on. Although J.C. was 51 years older than me, he had the soul of a 20 year old and had more energy than most of my friends. He was also one of the funniest person that I have ever met and his humor created joy in the lives of many. J.C. was not just my grandfather, he was one of my best friends growing up. He was always down for an adventure and wasn’t scared to jump beaver dam or go down rapids to get to our secret fishing spots. J.C. was also with me when I shot my first moose. We shared memories that will last a lifetime. I pictured J.C at my wedding one day, not just as a guest but as one of my best mans’. He was that great of a friend. His passing is difficult to accept but the amazing memories created along this journey will live on and one day I will have a beer with J.C. at the fishing spot. Until then, RIP my friend.
