Mrs. Cécile (Dufour) Vandal, born in St-Jérôme, Lac St-Jean, Quebec, on May 14, 1915, passed away peacefully at Sensenbrenner Hospital in Kapuskasing, Ontario, Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the age of 95 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Jean Dufour (1952) and Eugénie Gagnon (1971), her husband Emile Vandal (1948), two brothers, Léonce (1963) and Albert Dufour (1978) and one niece, Nicole Dubien (1986). Loving sister of Éliette Pilon (late Jean-Baptiste) of Welland, dear aunt of Jocelyne Anderson (Michael), René Pilon (Joyce Vadneau), her godchild Adrien Pilon (Andrea Montgomery), Lorraine Denis (Richard), Doris McMorland (John), Rachel Pilon (Claire Caron), Maurice Dufour (late Doreen) and Michelle Vandette (Roger). She is also survived by her foster sister, Adélia Chaloner (late Robert) and her daughter Jocelyne Duquette (Claude), her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, René Vandal (Denise), Albertine Essiembre (Amable) and Gabrielle Foucault (late Roland), and many other nieces and nephews of the Vandal family, including Nicole and her godchild Lucie as well as her close friends, Lévicienne Leclair and Léon Villeneuve. Cécile, you will always be in our hearts. The family will receive friends at Guenette Funeral Home on Monday, August 9, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 beginning at 1:00 p.m. followed by the religious service at 2:00 p.m. that will be celebrated by Father Gilles Gosselin at the Immaculée-Conception parish. Interment will follow at the Kapuskasing Cemetery. For those that wish, masses or donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
