We regret to announce the death of Denis Lavoie on Friday September 16, 2011 at the Sensenbrenner Hospital in Kapuskasing at the age of 63 years. He is survived by his wife Suzanne Lavoie of Val Rita; 2 daughters: Manon Lavoie of Kapuskasing, Michelle Lavoie wife of Claude Raymond of Kapuskasing; 1 son: Martin Lavoie of Kapuskasing; 1 son-in-law Pat Lajeunesse of Kapuskasing; 1 sister: Gisèle Lavoie of Val Rita; 2 brothers: Gerry Lavoie (Sharon) of Kapuskasing, Marc Lavoie of Kapuskasing and 4 grandchildren; Isabel, Daniel, Samuel , William; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, his mother-in-law Blandine Potvin as well as many friends. He was predeceased by his mother Pauline Lavoie, his father Olivier Lavoie and 1 brother: Laurier Lavoie. He enjoyed hunting, spending time at the cottage and in the nature, photography, gardening and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was owner of the Lavoie Variety Store in Val Rita for many years. Denis Lavoie will be resting at the Guenette Funeral Home on Wednesday September 21, 2011 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Immaculée-Conception church in Kapuskasing at 10:30 AM with Father Louis-Philippe Belanger officiating. Burial of the ashes will follow at the Kapuskasing Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
