Elona Blekot passed away on Sunday, July 15 at Sensenbrenner Hospital at the age of 75 years. Elona was born on March 9, 1932 in Laaber, Germany. She grew up in Regensburg and lived there until she met Nicolaus Blekot. She married him on March 14, 1961 in Kapuskasing. Elona enjoyed being surrounded by friends. She often went to Germany, visiting her family and friends in Regensburg, Laaber and Bayerisch Gmain. She always had a close relationship with her surviving brother Helmut Ertl husband of Dagmar of Schortens, Germany and her long time companion Wasyl Byblyk of Kapuskasing. She was predeceased by her husband Nicolaus in 1972, her parents Agnes and Johann Ertl and one brother Dieter. A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 21 at 10:30 a.m. at St-Patrick’s Parish with Father Léo Papineau officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
