We regret to announce the death of Fortunat Fortier on January 20, 2011 at the age of 89 years. He enjoyed cross country skiing, cutting wood, making firewood, metal working, and woodworking; he enjoyed being a workaholic. He is survived by his wife, Marie-Ange; his children: Gisèle Isabelle wife of Gaston of Kapuskasing, Robert husband of Jeane of Ottawa, Denis husband of Lucie of North Bay, Noël husband of Nicole of Kapuskasing and Solange McBride wife of Keith of Sault Ste.Marie; eight grandchildren : Roger, Pierre, Neil, David, Claude, Monique, Kevin and Bonnie; five great-grandchildren: Tanya, Mélanie, William, Mila and Peter; two brothers: Aurel of Kapuskasing and Gilles of Kitchener; two sisters: Simone Guenette of Rouyn-Noranda and Marguerite Proulx of Kitchener; 3 brothers-in-law: Euchariste Massicotte husband of Thérèse of St-Narcisse, Gérard Massicotte of Trois-Rivières and Paul Massicotte husband of Jacqueline of Québec City, two sisters-in-law: Fernande Cossette of Trois-Rivières and Jeanninne Massicotte of St-Narcisse; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers: Armand and Léo-Paul; and one sister, Rose Sigouin. Fortunat Fortier will be resting at the Guenette Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 24th at Notre-Dame-des-Victoires parish at 2:30 p.m. with Father Hervé Sauvé officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
