We regret to announce the death of Jean Charles Simard on Monday, October 19, 2015 at the Sensenbrenner Hospital at the age of 68. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, cutting firewood and operating his sawmill. He is survived by his spouse Evelyn of Kapuskasing; his children: Fernand of Fort McMurray and Sylvie Simard of Kapuskasing; his siblings: Lola Lapierre (Jean-Yves), Jacques, Caroline Smitten (Brian) of Kapuskasing, Fernand of Thunder Bay and Claire Stewart (John) of North Bay; as well as six grandchildren: Joshua, Mathieux, Mélissa, Stéphane, Alicia and Kaelan; and two great-grandchildren, Kayden and Jersey. He was predeceased by his parents, Alice and Albert Simard; and two siblings, Claire Simard and Michel.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held at his home, November 14th at 6pm (first driveway after Owens Rd N and Highway 11, just after the airport on the right). You are encouraged to bring your musical instruments, voices, and beverages of choice. It will be a potluck so bring your best dish. Lets celebrate like Jean wanted us to.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 16th at 10:30 a.m. at Notre-Dame-des-Victoires church with Father Hervé Sauvé officiating.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be greatly appreciated. ©


Nous regrettons de vous annoncer le décès de Jean Simard le lundi 19 octobre à l'Hôpital Sensenbrenner à l'âge de 68 ans. Il aimait travailler le bois, aller à la chasse et à la pêche, couper du bois de chauffage et faire du bois d’œuvre avec son moulin à scie. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse Evelyn de Kapuskasing, ses enfants, Fernand de Fort McMurray et Sylvie Simard de Kapuskasing, ses frères et soeurs, Lola Lapierre épouse de Jean-Yves, Jacques, Caroline Smitten épouse de Brian de Kapuskasing, Fernand de Thunder Bay et Claire Stewart épouse de John de North Bay, ainsi que six petits-enfants, Joshua, Mathieu, Mélissa, Stéphane, Alicia et Kaelan, deux arrière-petits-enfants, Kayden et Jersey. Il fut prédécédé par ses parents, Alice et Albert Simard, une soeur, Claire Simard et un frère, Michel.

La famille invite parents et amis à célébrer la vie de Jean à sa maison le 14 novembre à partir de 18h (la première maison après le chemin Owens Nord et Route 11, après l’aéroport à la droite). Vous êtes encouragé d’apporter vos instruments musicaux, vos voix, et votre boisson. Il aura aussi un repas-partage donc apporter votre mets préféré.

Un service commémoratif aura lieu le lundi 16 novembre à 10h30 à l'Église Notre-Dame-des-Victoires avec Père Hervé Sauvé comme célébrant.

Comme témoignage de sympathie, la famille sera reconnaissante des dons à l'Association canadienne du diabète ou la Fondation des maladies du cœur. ©
