Margaret Paterson
We regret to announce the death of Margaret Paterson on Friday, October 3, 2014 at the North Centennial Manor at the age of 91. She was a proud War Bride from Crossgates, Scotland who made her way to Northern Ontario with a husband and two small children. An active and life member of RCL Branch 85 Ladies Auxiliary, she was a contributing Northern Times correspondent under the byline Meandering with Marg. The author of 3 books including Carved from the Forest, a history of Kapuskasing, she loved the written word and was an accomplished poet. Embroidery, sewing and afghans were some of her earlier pleasures. Flowers, birds and bouganvillias her later ones. She is survived by four children, Donald (Louise), Lorna Chmilewski (Karl) of Kapuskasing, Kenneth (Kathleen) of Hamilton and Kareen Hudson (Ken) of Winnipeg, as well as four grandchildren, Hays, Keri, Wayne and Mark, two great-grandchildren,Allie and Jaymie. She was pre deceased by her husband of 64 years Ross, and a son Jerry. Memorial gathering to be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at the Royal Canadian Legion in Kapuskasing, commencing at 3:00 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the North Centennial Manor would be greatly appreciated.
