Obituary for
Rachel Martel (Bernard)
We regret to announce the death of Rachel Martel on Monday, January 9 at the North Centennial Manor at the age of 83. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and l’UCFO. She enjoyed dancing, singing and playing guitar. She is survived by seven children, Thérèse Martel companion of Elie Makhoul and Dominique husband of Lisette of Orléans, Denise Martel companion of Daniel Roy and Louis husband Julie Vendette of Kapuskasing, Nicole Bérubé companion of Walter Sinai of Val-Rita, Stéphane husband of Tabatha of Plantagenet and Justin of Rockland, two sisters, Irma Veilleux of Hearst and Odile Lachapelle of Marathon, two brothers, Denis Bernard of Thunder Bay and Hubert Bernard of Opasatika, as well as sixteen grandchildren, Robbie, Michel, Julie, Brian, José, Alain, Stéphane, Danielle, Kathie, Valérie, Vicky, Amanda, Branden, Jacob, Danika and Mathew, seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Abigail, Martin, Anick, Océanne, Axten and Nathan. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert, one son, François, two son-in-laws, Pierre Brooks and Maurice Bérubé, four brothers, Alexandre, Conrad, Émilien and Eddy, two sisters, Anna-Marie Binette and Régina Bernard. Rachel Martel will be resting at the Guenette Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 11 from 2 - 4:00 and 7 - 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 12th at the Immaculée-Conception church at 2:30 p.m. with Father Gilles Gosselin officiating. The spring burial will be held at the Kapuskasing cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
