We regret to announce the death of Suzanne Parent on Thursday September 10, 2009 at North Centennial Manor Kapuskasing at the age of 91 years. She is survived by 1 daughter: Lynne Martin wife of Serge of Kapuskasing; 3 sons: Bill (Jo-Jo) husband of Diane of Wasaga Beach, Gerry of Fort Frances and Tony friend of Claire of Kapuskasing; 1 sister: Mary Flood of Regina, 9 grandchildren: Ross, Neil, Andrea, Bradley, Joey, Luke, Matthew, Alex, Mark as well as 5 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Joe Parent, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Susie started her working career as a secretary for the Treasury Department for the provincial government of Saskatchewan in 1937 until 1944. After marrying and moving to Ontario in 1945, Susie was employed by Spruce Falls in the steno-pool. Later, she worked as the executive secretary for the Town of Kapuskasing Administrator and she was a court stenographer and translator for Eastern European immigrants. Susie also served as Justice of the Peace for 15 years. After retiring in 1971, Susie and Joe operated a family campground at Breezy Acres in Harty. . Suzanne Parent will be resting at the Guenette Funeral Home on Sunday September 13, 2009 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday September 14th at Guenette Funeral Home at 10:00 AM with Father Gilles Gosselin officiating. Burial will follow at the Kapuskasing Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
