We regret to announce the death of Svilen “Moustache” Mateev on Sunday, January 15 at the Sensenbrenner Hospital at the age of 81. He was a big man who was very kind and gentle. He loved animals and enjoyed feeding birds, chipmunks and the companionship of dog Chico. He is survived by his wife Anna, one son, John Nowak of Ottawa, one brother, Jordan of Kapuskasing as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Grozdena and Danail, one brother Vasil (Bill). Svilen Mateev will be resting at the Guenette Funeral Home on Thursday from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 20th in the Chapel of the Guenette Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jen Dresser officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Sensenbrenner Hospital, Dialysis Unit would be greatly appreciated.
