One more thing and that is the end of my postings. The last night I saw Darin, he and Nicky were at my place as I was getting ready to head back to Toronto the next morning. We were having a few pops and laughs and as they were getting ready to leave, Darin inadvertently let my cat Nixon outside. Well, I had a meltdown because I have a family of weasels living under the back end of the barn and didn’t want little meow cat to have his pumpkin ripped off. Nicky calmed the situation down in an instant, got the cat to come inside and we all had a good laugh about it. Thing is, and we never, ever did this, as Darin was leaving, we gave each other a big hug, just like that, out of the blue. The supernatural, is it out there? Well, there’s more. The day Darin died, I was having a smoke outside my place in Toronto, probably around the time he actually passed. A little fly, not a normal looking fly lands on my right shoulder, not scared at all, does a strange walk about for a bit then takes off. Was kind of weird but I think nothing of it. Then I get the news 4 hours later. I was in Kap the next day and went to Darin’s in the evening to see Nicky. I went outside to have a smoke, and ping, same kind of strange looking little fly lands on my right shoulder, does the weird walkabout again and poof it’s gone. That night I told Nicky about my weird fly story. Later in the week, at the Friday service, Darin’s cousin Pat tells me that he’s going to use a reference of Darin’s from the song Fly from Tragically Hip’s World Container album in his eulogy. I made that connection just now. Perhaps it’s nothing but…the supernatural, is it out there? I really wish it could be, I so want to be with my pal again sometime...
